Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

These terms are an agreement between you and DreamBreakerX ("we", "us"), the developer and operator of LiveCaptions. By creating an account or using LiveCaptions, you agree to these terms.

2. The service

LiveCaptions is a desktop application for macOS and Windows that displays real-time translated captions for audio playing on your device. The service is offered as a monthly subscription with a usage quota, plus a one-time free trial.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep access to your sign-in email secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account per person.

4. Subscription and billing

• Three monthly plans are available: US$4.99 for 15 hours, US$9.99 for 35 hours, and US$19.99 for 75 hours of live captioning per month.
• You can switch plans anytime in the app. Upgrades take effect immediately: a prorated charge for the remainder of the billing period applies, and your hours limit for the current period increases by the same prorated amount, with the full new allowance starting from the next billing period. Downgrades also take effect immediately — your hours limit is reduced right away, the current period is not refunded or credited, and the new price applies from your next billing period.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
• You can cancel anytime in the Paddle billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Unused hours do not roll over.
• Prices may include or exclude tax depending on your region.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing period.
• Payments are processed by Paddle.com as our merchant of record; Paddle's checkout terms apply to the purchase.

5. Free trial

Each person may claim one free trial: 1 hour of live captioning to use within 14 days, no payment method required. To prevent abuse, claiming a trial involves a hashed device check (see the Privacy Policy). We may refuse or revoke trials that we reasonably believe abuse the offer.

6. Acceptable use

• You are responsible for ensuring that capturing, transcribing, and translating audio is lawful in your situation — including recording-consent laws and the terms of the content or services you listen to.
• Do not resell, share, or transfer account access.
• Do not reverse engineer the service or circumvent usage quotas.
• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes.

7. License and intellectual property

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app while you have an active subscription or trial. We retain all rights to the app and this website.

8. Third-party services

The service depends on third-party providers: a speech recognition and translation provider, Paddle (payments), and Google Firebase (accounts and infrastructure). Their availability affects the service, and their terms govern their processing.

9. Translation accuracy

Captions are machine-generated and may contain errors or omissions. They are provided for convenience. Do not rely on them in situations where accuracy is critical, such as medical, legal, safety, or financial contexts.

10. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, and our aggregate liability for any claims relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your statutory consumer rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination survive.

12. Refunds

Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy and your statutory rights.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protections of the place where you live still apply.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we will give at least 30 days' notice of material changes, and continued use after they take effect means you accept them. Contact: support@livecaptions.app

These terms are drafted in English. Translations are provided for convenience; the English version governs.
